世界中の知識を持つAIが、予約画面で「次へ」のボタンを探している。カレンダーを開き、日付を選び、人数を入力し、たまに別の場所を押す。頭脳は最先端なのに、仕事の進め方は初めてそのサイトを使う人とあまり変わらない。

先日、SNSのおすすめ欄に「WebをAIエージェントが直接操作できる革命」というまとめ画像が流れてきました。WebMCPという仕組みを紹介するもので、「有名な開発者が発表した」「リポジトリはこれ」と書いてありました。

そこで、Webアプリの“機能”を“ツール”としてAIエージェントにもわかりやすい形で公開できるようにするのが「WebMCP」だ。ツールはJavaScriptの関数か、HTMLの<form>要素で登録でき、既存のフロントエンドのコードを再利用しやすいように配慮されている。人間が使うことを考えたフロントエンドをそのまま、エージェントからも利用しやすくできるわけだ。
